Jonathon Carter is the electrician behind Electrix and Chill. Based in the south-east of Melbourne Jonathon currently services areas including Casey, Cardinia, The Dandenongs and West Gippsland. Jonathon does it all from generator switches to split sysem installation, outdoor lights to underground pumps, data and tv solution to feature indoor lights.
Jonathon has done electrical work for me several times over the years (he installed all the extra powerpoints to allow my home office to function and my gear to be easily charged) and I have previously photographed family images for him with his with Laura and two daughters. I was so stoked when he came to me wanting branding photos.
Like many of us he was nervous to have headshots done but he quickly relaxed into it and then I spent several hours simply watching on as he worked away, documenting it as he went. What I love about Jonathon as a tradie is the level of care he shows and attention to detail. When coming indoors he wears shoe covers to protect clients’ floors and cleans up after himself.
With the outdoor lighting work I photographed Jonathon really went above and beyond. The existing lights were hanging off the home having previously been installed directly onto weatherboard and colourbond. To ensure a perfect finish and actually hang the lights firmly against these anything but flat walls Jonathon came armed with extra gear. He bought specially shaped baking plates that are shaped to the slope of weather boards and waves of colourbond allowing fixtures to be attached at a perfect 90 degree angle to the ground. As if that wasn’t enough he even bought a range of spray paints so he could match the plates to the paint colours of the home. While Jonathon does new build work he is also passionate about restorations and renovations and given his detail orientation this is where he really shines.
