Yoga Teacher Personal Branding Photos
When yoga teacher Becki Giles contacted me to schedule branding photos I was excited. I love working with other small business owners to capture their message, values and brand in images. I approach it as a truly collaborative process.
Becki told me she was nervous about being photographed so I suggested we photograph over several shorter sessions (rather than one long one). This would allow her a chance to ease into it and get to know me and take the pressure off.
She knew at the outset she wanted some photos outdoors in nature and some indoors in a yoga studio setting.
We first met on a cloudy and windy night at the Arboretum in Olinda. I suggested we treat it as a meet and greet and just go for a walk and I’d take some photos. It turns out Becki had underestimated herself and she slayed it. We got over 40 usable photos that evening to go into her proofing gallery.
Our second session, was when the pressure was on. Becki had hired out a local studio and had three of her friends come to be students for our shoot. Again everyone did super well and I captured a variety of shots of her, the “students” and close up details of hands, feet and talismans.
Next up was a garden session where we wanted to make use of the ornamental lake to include reflections and “contemplation” shots. The light was beautiful and we got to play with light and shade.
By this stage we had a large variety of images but Becki pinpointed that she wanted a few more “action poses” of her teaching so we did a quick mini sessions, again with her friends, to tick these off the list.
With everything complete Becki then had the tough task of narrowing down to her favourites for retouching. This is the result.
