Naturopath Photos
Naturopath Skye Bensley contacted me in early 2023 to enquire about branding photography. She was starting up a new business of her own but also working as part of a cooperative called Bare Health Studio.
I had Skye compile a Pinterest board of inspiring images she liked to help me define her vision. When I saw what she had selected the pictures were consistently dark and moody. This was a contrast to Bare Health Studio’s existing website which was quite light and bright. With this in mind I was aware I was going to need to capture two quite different styles of images during Skye’s session.
Skye let me know she focuses on optimising health and well-being so that everyone can feel their best. This includes dietary and lifestyle modifications, herbal medicine, and nutritional supplementation. Skye identified that she wanted her photos to depict a grounded, calming feeling and a connection to nature.
With this in mind we selected Alfred Nicholas Gardens in Sherbrooke for the session. To ensure variety Skye bought two outfits changes and a number of props including an apple, teacup, journal, pen and her meditation candles (though forgot the lighter so the flame was later added in post-production!). We photographed in two distinct areas of the gardens. Skye chose the Upper Ponds for their shadows and the Ornamental Lake which is brighter.
I utilised a number of techniques during the session. This included taking some images using natural light only and some using supplementary artificial light to ensure they were bright and in alignment with the images on Bare Health Studios website. I also used some creative approaches including reflections and placing effects in front of the lens to capture an even greater variety of images for Skye to select from. This is the final result.
